Emergency services responded to reports of a hiker who fell and injured his leg, about 2km into the Umtamvuna Nature Reserve trail on 3 July.
The National Sea Rescue Institute, South African Police Service Search and Rescue, Ray Nkonyeni Fire and Rescue along with KwaZulu Private Ambulance were dispatched to the scene and found that the hiker had sustained a critical leg injury
‘The patient was stabilised and then transported by an NSRI boat back to a safe area where the ambulance was waiting to transport the patient to the hospital,’ KwaZulu Private Ambulance spokesperson Craig Botha told IOL.
