Molly Malones in Joburg has not let lockdown restrictions get in the way of business. The Fourways eatery has turned into a vintage roadhouse drive-in restaurant to help keep themselves afloat. Once lockdown is over, it says it will reopen normally.
Molly’s has been in operation for over 12 years and is a local favourite. Their hearty meals and laid back feel make for the perfect spot to enjoy a night with friends.
Speaking to Good Things Guy, the restaurant said that their quiz nights along with other much-loved entertainment will still be on offer, just from a different setting.
On-site consumption of food and alcohol in restaurants, bars, taverns and shebeens is banned under Level 3. A roadhouse drive-in restaurant allows patrons to get out the house, socially distance and still enjoy a delicious meal.
The roadhouse restaurant is an American invention popularised in South Africa in the 1940s.
