Astronomy enthusiasts are in for a treat this weekend as Jupiter, Saturn and the Moon will be in conjunction.
They will be most visible on Saturday, August 29 between 4am and 5.30am, according to Time and Date. Other planets that are also expected to be visible are Uranus, on Friday night from 23:26pm and Venus on Saturday morning from 04:38am.
The moon will be 90% illuminated, making it a beautiful sight to see. Binoculars will do to spot Jupiter and the Moon well, but a telescope will be needed to see Saturn, according to Forbes.
Keep an eye out for Jupiter’s four famous Galilean moons: Ganymede, Europa, Calisto and/or Io. Saturn’s rings (although this planet will be fainter), are also a grand sight to see.
A conjunction occurs when two or more astronomical objects have the same right ascension or the same ecliptic longitude, as observed from Earth.
