South African airline, Kulula, a subsidiary of Comair, is under fire after several passengers reported that the airline deducted unauthorised money from their bank accounts in the week of February 7.
Many of the affected passengers to Twitter to complain about the debits.
Several passengers complained about a variety of issues. Some were double debits for flights clients booked years ago, while others claimed they were charged for flights they did not book.
@Nedbank A new charge from a @kulula ticket bought in 2019 from a blocked CC has shown up on my Dads new CC. This was done last year and resolved. Now it shows up again…I’m convinced there is internal fraud happening at Nedbank that targets the elderly. Please contact me.

Kulula said it is investigating the ‘banking issue’ and released a statement via Twitter: ‘Comair acknowledges the duplicate debits which have been processed against certain customer cards,’ the airline said.
‘We are working with our financial service provider and affected customers will be refunded. Turnaround time will be provided once we have confirmation from our clearing bank.’
