The KZN South Coast, now holding the highest number of Blue Flag beaches in KwaZulu-Natal, is preparing for an influx of holidaymakers this festive season.
South Coast Tourism & Investment Enterprise (SCTIE) is encouraging visitors to support local businesses through their growing Buy Local campaign. Launched to boost the regional economy, the initiative promotes local SMEs, creating sustainable income for entrepreneurs, farmers, and professional services.
‘We want to foster a self-sustaining economy driven by responsible tourism and conscious consumer habits,’ said SCTIE CEO Dr. Vusumuzi Sibiya. ‘With the upcoming holiday season, we’re calling on visitors to support our local businesses, keeping the KZN South Coast a vibrant destination.’
The campaign benefits the region by reducing carbon footprints and transport costs, strengthening community networks, and spurring entrepreneurship. Visitors are invited to explore the local market, purchase unique gifts, and enjoy the region’s experiences, from spa days to thrilling adventures. Numerous holiday markets will also provide the chance to purchase handmade Christmas gifts.
