A young leopard in Hoedspruit gave a massive leap into the air when another leopard crept up behind it and seemingly scared the animal on Saturday, July 4. There’s nothing worse than trying to have a peaceful sip of water in the night and then getting the fright of your life.
‘A leopard was drinking and another one slowly creeped up behind it, giving the one drinking the fright of its life! Seen right outside our patio in Hoedspruit. Tinged by Soames Family,’ Latest Sightings – Kruger posted on Facebook.
Take a look at the hilarious moment:
The scare is quite unintentional and it seems the other leopard got just such a big fright. Both immediately dart in opposite directions.
‘Thank you everyone, I’m thrilled you enjoyed it as much as we did. We have leopards here very often at our home,’ Gillian Leigh Soames, owner of the video, shared on Facebook. ‘These two cubs are 11 month old siblings.
‘The flash you see is from the trail camera that we have up, in addition to an Infra Red Live Camera,’ Soames continues.
‘The flashes are completely invisible to the animals and the only reason you can see the flashes is because the Infra Red from the live camera picks it up.’
Leopards are incredibly light-footed animals and can jump forward up to 6 meters and leap a massive 3 meters straight up, according to Live Science.
