South Africa’s newest local carrier, Lift Airline will open for bookings via its website on Tuesday, November 10. Flights will operate from December 10.
The budget airline will kick off with three aircraft operating seven return flights a day between Cape Town, George and Johannesburg.
Co-founder Gidon Novick promises complete flexibility to passengers. ‘Anyone who travels with us will have a fully flexible ticket and will be able to change their flight as many times as they want to without fees. Our hypothesis is that with that in mind, people will become more comfortable to book, and less anxious about travelling,’ he said according to Business Tech.
Lift will initially make use of Global Aviation’s aircraft, maintenance facilities, cabin crew, pilots and its central flight control facility.
Novick added that ‘airlines get less efficient the larger they get, so starting off small gives a new airline a big advantage.’
The airline’s name was chosen by the public in a nationwide competition and ‘Lift’ emerged as the winner from over 25,000 entries.
Lift Airline’s website is still inactive until November 10, but you can sign up for their newsletter in the meantime.
