Posted on 28 February 2023 By Jordyn Johnson

Maintenance and refurbishments will occur at King Shaka International Airport this March.

On their Twitter page, the airport announced that they ‘will be undertaking maintenance work on the canopy structure above the drop-off area from the 3rd of March and is expected to be completed at the end of July 2023.’

The refurbishment of the canopy will be executed in phases and will include alternatively closing off the outer and inner traffic lanes.

The drop-off entrances will remain open, so airport users can continue using them.

ACSA Regional General Manager, Nkosinathi Myataza, said that ‘to ensure minimal disruptions to the passenger travel experience, the works have been carefully planned with various measures having been put in place. [They] however urge passengers to consider these works in their travel plans, especially during peak periods. Passengers and airport users are encouraged to take note of signage placed in strategic areas around the work area and observe the flagman managing traffic at the drop-off area.

Although the airport promises to warn passengers and airport users, should the drop-off area be temporarily closed, it is advised that King Shaka International Airport users keep up to date on their social media platforms.
