Located only 25 minutes from Kamuzu International Airport, Kumbali Country Lodge boasts tastefully decorated thatched suites and spectacular views.

According to Tourism Update, the Kumbali team announced the arrival of its first animals (two zebras, a male and a female) earlier this month.

‘This is the beginning of our journey to create a diverse and thriving ecosystem. We are committed to the conservation of nature and wildlife.’ said Kumbali.

The reserve is not yet open to the public as the animals’ adjustment to their new environment is currently still being monitored.

Malawi Tourism has clarified that the private reserve is expected to open later this year once the team is confident that the animals are healthy and well-settled.

There are also plans to introduce additional animals from locations such as Kuti Wildlife Reserve and Game Haven within Malawi, as well as further locations including reserves in Zimbabwe.

Kumbali Country Lodge is working in partnership with Conservation Research Africa to enhance its conservation initiatives. This will be done through research and education on key issues such as human-wildlife contact and habitat loss.

Fully licensed by the Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW), the new game reserve is dedicated to maintaining a high standard of conservation and security. It will also strive to ensure the well-being of the animals.
