The Malawi Ministry of Health confirmed that the country has reopened their borders to all international travellers, with remaining travel restrictions and quarantine requirements lifted.
Malawi initially closed its borders in June 2021 to limit the impact of the third wave of Covid-19 infections. Travellers can now enter the country with a PCR test no older than 72 hours, and clearance from Malawi’s Ministry of Health is no longer needed.
This will come as a relief to travellers wishing to visit Malawi, where the landlocked country can flex its new conservation achievements, having recently reintroduced wild dogs and the Chapman’s pygmy chameleon, feared to be extinct, clinging for survival.
