Mauritius will further lift its Covid restrictions from 1 July following a successful vaccination programme and a low infection rate.
The island state will lift its mandatory mask requirement, but mask mandates will remain in place in certain public areas such as hospitals, airports and public transport.
Furthermore, the tests on arrival for vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers have been waivered. With an economy driven by tourism, Mauritius was especially affected by the pandemic, but since opening its borders on 1 October 2021, over 500 000 tourists have flocked to the country.
Mauritius’ double vaccination rate currently stands at over 90%, with two-thirds of all adults having already received their booster shots.
