Move like greased lightning at Killarney Raceway’s Street Mania event

Posted on 22 April 2022 By Taylah Strauss

For street-car fans, freedom means roaring engines and clouds of rubber smoke – so that’s what Freedom Day at Killarney on 27 April is all about, with Street Mania 3 presented by Killarney International Raceway in partnership with the City of Cape Town, RACESA, Spin Outlaws, Drift Outlaws and Razor Custom Car Show.

The action kicks off with Drifting and Spinning on the Tar Oval from 12pm to 4pm, an important part of the City’s commitment to work with Killarney to cater for the spinning and drifting needs of Cape Town’s car enthusiasts.

Once again Drift & Spin Outlaws are offering the street-car racer who wants to try throwing his car sideways a slot in their timetable, with 90 minutes of competition drifting, an hour for the novice drifters, and 90 minutes of Spinkhana action.

There’s Street2Strip action on the quarter mile, also from 12pm to 4pm, open only to street-legal cars. The Christmas Tree will be set up and the times will be announced by the commentators, but the strip will not be prepared with Track Bite and there will be no results recorded or published.

Spectators get to enjoy all three events for just R80 each, R20 for scholars under 16 and free for children under 12 years of age and for Western Province Motor Club members on production of their membership books at the gate.

Tickets are available in advance via Computicket or at the gate – but bear in mind that if you purchase your tickets online, you will still have to collect the physical tickets, including the free tickets for children under 12, at Computicket or the Computicket outlet at the Money Market counter in your nearest Shoprite, Checkers, Checkers Hyper or Usave store.

The entry fee to participate is still R230 for WPMC members and R300 for non-members, which includes the driver and two crew members.

Wearing a mask is no longer a government requirement at outdoor gatherings, but please remember to wear your mask over your nose and mouth when entering one of our indoor venues and keep a social distancing space of at least one metre between persons at all times.
