CapeNature has unveiled South Africa’s first slow hiking trail at the scenic De Mond Nature Reserve. The new trail offers nature enthusiasts a serene escape not too far from the coastal town of Arniston.
As reported by African Travel & Tourism Association, the Damara Trail was launched on World Tourism Day, the 27th of September.
It offers a unique two-day experience which is designed for all ages and fitness levels.
Unlike other strenuous hikes, the two-day route features a gentle slope, smooth terrain and scenic rest stops.

According to Tourism Update, Day 1 is a 5km hike which leads to an overnight wooden deck where a tent can be set up overlooking the ocean.
On Day 2, hikers can enjoy an 11,5 km hike along a coastal route ending on the beach in Arniston.
CEO of CapeNature, Dr Ashley Naidoo, expressed that the trail is focused on connecting with nature at a leisurely pace.
There is also interpretive signage along the route which provides insight into local flora, fauna, and cultural heritage.
Bookings for this innovative outdoor experience open on the 4th of October. The trail promises an unforgettable journey through South Africa’s stunning landscapes.
