Newly instated British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, has vowed to ban live trophy hunting imports as well as live animal exports.

The British government has been toying with the idea of instating a ban on hunting trophies since December last year, but the proposal never went through parliament.
The then-proposed Kept Animals Bill would have banned live exports for slaughter and fattening, outlawed keeping primates as pets and aim to curb puppy smuggling, making pet abduction a criminal offence.
The heads of nearly 30 campaign organisations are reported to have written to the two leading candidates for the UK’s next Prime Minister on 21 October, calling on them to uphold pledges made by the leading Conservative Party on animal welfare last year – which were also in the party’s election manifesto.
This campaign won the backing of Larry the Downing Street cat, who tweeted ‘To my next lodger, please confirm that you will take action for animals.’
A few hours later, Sunak’s team tweeted ‘Rishi looks forward to championing this Bill as it continues to progress through parliament.’
The bill has been progressing through parliament since Boris Johnson promised to ban hunting trophy imports more than three years ago.
