Fully vaccinated people entering South Africa will no longer have to produce negative PCR test results as of Wednesday, 23 March, President Cyril Ramaphosa said.
Those who cannot provide proof of vaccination need to present a PCR test no older than 72 hours.
Other changes to adjusted Level 1 include that masks are no longer required outdoors (masks remain mandatory indoors), and indoor and outdoor gatherings are permitted with up to 50% of capacity. Those attending such gatherings must provide either proof of vaccination or a Covid test no older than 72 hours.
Where no proof of vaccination or negative Covid test results are produced, limits of 1 000 attendees apply at indoor gatherings and 2 000 at outdoor gatherings.
