Parts of Polokwane remain flooded after a thunderstorm brought heavy downpours to the city on Wednesday afternoon, 1 February.
The rain uprooted trees, leaving roads blocked and a tree felling team had been activated to clear some of the roads, Thipa Selala, spokesperson for the Polokwane local municipality, said.
‘A preliminary report indicates the casualty ward at the Pietersburg Hospital was flooded and closed. More than 20 houses in the Nirvana area were flooded,’ he added.
The rain caused plenty of disruption, with some roads completely unpassable.
