‘As part of our reform agenda, we will continue to enhance our visa system to make it easier for skilled people to invest in our country and to grow tourism,’ said President Ramaphosa.
The Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) will facilitate a fully digital visa application process.
The system will leverage artificial intelligence and automation in order to mitigate opportunities for corruption.
This will also reduce visa turnaround times significantly and promises a smoother experience for international visitors who seek to explore South Africa.

Home Affairs Minister Leon Schreiber has welcomed the president’s endorsement of the digital transformation agenda.
‘Our five-year vision to deliver Home Affairs @ home, as announced in September last year, is built entirely around the digitalisation and automation of all services and processes, in alignment with the President’s announcement’ said Schreiber.
