Qatar Airways announced a new rebooking policy on 14 May. Titled ‘Travel with Confidence’, the deal is almost too good to be true.
In a release the airline said: ‘As we look forward, we are offering you more choices and greater flexibility so you can have the confidence to plan now and travel when you are ready.
‘Whether you have booked or are planning to book for travel up to 31 December 2020, you can rely on us for the best travel solutions,’ they add.
The new policy covers flights through 31 December 2020, that are booked before 30 September 2020.
The offer includes:
– Change your travel date or destination free of charge, as often as you need, for travel until 31 December 2020
– Change your origin to another city within the same country or any other destination within a 5,000 mile radius of your original destination
– Swap your ticket for Qmiles and redeem them towards reward flights, extra baggage or cabin upgrades when the time is right
– Keep your ticket and use it when you are ready with our extended ticket validity
While most airlines have implemented flexible booking policies, Qatar’s new policy is unmatched. The policy is the most generous one that has come out of the coronavirus pandemic.
Without confirmation of when travel will be allowed again, it may seem as though booking tickets is not a good idea. Perhaps drawing in buyers is the purpose of the policy. T’s and C’s should be looked at carefully for this one.
However, the airline does state that should a flight be cancelled, possibly due to a second wave of the virus, the cost of the ticket will be refunded.
