What better way to celebrate females at their finest this women’s month than by taking a look at the riveting and reigning females of the natural world? National Geographic is set to debut a first-ever in-depth glance into the matriarchal structures found in the societies of various critters and creatures found on our planet.
This seven-part series, Queens, documents and illustrates the intricacies of female-led communities in nature and how they function and prosper. From the small wonders of wasps to the internal politics of elephants, this visual journey will allow viewers to unravel the matriarchal mysteries of several organisms.
The female-led production team of the documentary series provide a unique and fresh way to showcase how these women of nature establish themselves within their network. Whether it’s from brute strength or tactical takeover, these female creatures in the animal kingdom are the ultimate example of how ‘girl bosses’ can rule the world.
This documentary series will premiere in early March and is set to stream on Disney+ and the National Geographic channel. Narrated by the female powerhouse Angela Bassett, this series will provide a compelling and visual interpretation of the famous female empowerment song lyrics: ‘I am woman, hear me roar’.
