A teeny lesser bush baby is arguably the Johannesburg Veterinary Hospital’s smallest patient ever, weighing in at just 10 grams when it was brought into their care after a cat got ahold of the tiny critter.
Since pebble was admitted to the clinic early in the new year, he began feeding away at a supplemental milk formula – gaining 38 grams in 25 days.

Its teeth were not yet strong enough to chew when he arrived, so Pebble could only suckle the centre of the worms for food, which didn’t hinder its growing appetite.
With round-the-clock feeding, Pebble eventually reached a weight of 70 grams and has now become a companion bush baby to another rescue at the clinic. The pair will begin their slow release into the wild over the next few months.
