In the most recent Index, South Africa’s passport has moved up to number 47 (it was previously at 48) on the list of 199 passports.

Unfortunately, the number of destinations which South Africans can travel to visa-free has dropped from 106 to 104.

The two destinations which no longer allow visa-free travel for South Africans are Pakistan and Mauritania.

Both countries have since moved to an e-visa system for SA tourists.
