South African Airways (SAA) has issued another alert regarding a ticket scam which is doing the rounds on social media.
The popular airline took to its social media account on X earlier today to announce that it had been alerted to a scam occurring on WhatsApp and Facebook. The scam involves fake discounted flight tickets, along with payment links.
‘We have been alerted to a WhatsApp and Facebook scam offering discounted tickets on SAA along with payment links. Please be aware that these offers are not associated with our airline. For your safety and security, always verify information through our official channels. If you need assistance or clarification, please contact us directly,’ warned the carrier.
In a report by IOL, it was stated that these scams are designed to trick users into providing sensitive information, as well as to make payments to fraudulent entities.
This is not the first time SAA has had to issue a scam notice. According to SA People News, the airline issued another scam alert earlier this month regarding fake deals which were being advertised on WhatsApp.
SAA has urged the public to be careful and vigilant, as well as to verify all SAA ticket offers through the airline’s official channels.
