South African Airways announced today that it is relaunching services to the island of Mauritius. Some ticket prices are lower than competitors.
‘Our first scheduled flight is planned for Sunday, November 21,’ said Shabnam Vadachia, Manager Commercial Performance South Africa at SAA.
‘SAA will continue to evaluate emerging markets and return to serve where market demand and good business sense meet in harmony.’
The airline is already taking bookings for twice-weekly flights which will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays between Johannesburg and Mauritius with the schedule as follows:
• SA190 departs JNB at 09h45 and arrives in MRU at 15h45
• SA191 departs MRU at 16h35 and arrives in JNB at 18h35
Its direct one-way tickets are cheaper than all its local competitors. Tickets in November start at just R4,016.75. The lowest fares in December start at R6,138.75.
