SANBI offers free access to gardens for National Gardens Week

The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is offering free access to all its gardens across South Africa this March.

As reported by Cape Town Etc, this opportunity affords visitors free access to experience the country’s diverse and breathtaking landscapes.

The offer is in celebration of National Gardens Week, which will take place from Monday the 10th of March to Sunday the 16th of March 2025.

The week promises an unparalleled opportunity for families, nature lovers and wellness enthusiasts to support conservation and reconnect with the country’s rich biodiversity.

According to The South African, visitors can also expect interactive activities which are designed to inspire a love for nature.

This year’s theme, ‘Grow Your Joy’ encourages people to embrace the positive and healing powers of nature.

Nontsikelelo Mpulo, Director of Marketing Communications and Commercialisation at SANBI, shared that visitors can look forward to a range of activities. These include daily garden tours, plant sales at various nurseries, park runs, yoga sessions, gardening techniques, and an Art in the Park event.

‘Whether you’re walking through one of our gardens or participating in one of the many activities, National Gardens Week is a chance to grow your joy and embrace the healing power of nature,’ she added.

  • Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden
  • Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden
  • KwaZulu-Natal National Botanical Garden
  • Karoo Desert National Botanical Garden
  • National Zoological Garden
  • Pretoria National Botanical Garden
  • Harold Porter National Botanical Garden
  • Lowveld National Botanical Garden
  • Mokopane Biodiversity Conservation Centre
  • Thohoyandou National Botanical Garden
  • Free State National Botanical Garden
