South African National Parks has announced the availability of the ‘My Activity Permit’ for Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) online, streamlining the process for travellers to obtain permits and enjoy park activities.

The permit is essential for engaging in specific recreational activities within the park, including horse-riding, dog-walking, cycling, paragliding, hang gliding, and sport climbing. These permits are issued by the Environmental Management Plan, which designates the areas and trails in TMNP for each activity and sets a code of conduct to protect the environment and other park users.

Activities requiring a permit are categorised as follows:

  • Level 1: Dog-walking, Multi-User Level 1 card additional member
  • Level 2: Hang-gliding, paragliding, sport climbing
  • Level 3: Horse-riding, cycling, line fishing, and transport, Level 3 additional member

For Level 3 activities like line fishing or Marine Species Access at Cape of Good Hope (Cape Point), a valid DFFE recreational fishing permit is also required.

The ‘My Activity Permit’ is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase, with the expiry date indicated on the permit. Permit holders are exempt from entrance fees at TMNP pay points when participating in their specified activities.

The TMNP My Activity Permit can be purchased online via the SANParks website: SANParks Permits.
