A hippopotamus tragically assaulted a high-ranking official from South African National Parks (SANParks), Kobus de Wet, during his camping expedition in Kruger National Park.
The incident occurred on Saturday, 12 August, as the individual was camping within the park’s premises. SANParks’ representative, Ike Phaahla, has officially verified the incident.
‘He played a pivotal role in apprehending numerous poachers who have now been incarcerated. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family as they navigate through this challenging period,’ Phaahla expressed.
While specifics about the attack remain uncertain, an inquiry into the matter is in progress.
