A 65-year-old Serbian man made a determined effort to win over the heart of a female flight attendant with an unconventional and illegal declaration of love last week.
The flight attendant was due to depart from Serbia’s capital, Belgrade, for Frankfurt on Lufthansa flight LH 1411 when the man phoned in a fake bomb threat. The 130 passengers and five crew members were forced to evacuate the aircraft.
The plane was then removed from the runway, where it was searched by a special police bomb squad and sniffer dogs. Following a thorough search and finding nothing, the plane took off. The delay lasted eight hours.
The police officers traced the phone call to the man, who was arrested the next day.
The Sun reports that in a court in Belgrade on Saturday, 20 July, the man explained that he had met two female flight attendants and invited them for dinner, and the pair had refused.
He was especially besotted with the one woman and had attempted to locate her hotel room. Failing this, the man’s final attempt to keep her in Serbia was phoning in the hoax bomb threat.
According to The Sun, he is being kept in police custody on charges of causing panic and disorder.
