Llandudno Beach in Cape Town has a growing foul-smelling pool of raw sewerage piling up on the shore since Tuesday, 20 April.
The blocked sewerage manhole has been spilling out raw sewerage down the storm-water furrow and onto the blue flag beach. Apart from the strong smell, The Natural Resources Defense Council Inc states that the forming sewerage pool can cause a range of illnesses for beachgoers – the most common being an upset stomach and pinkeye.

The manhole has been fixed but the spillage is still on the beach.
