Shamwari Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape and Sanbona Wildlife Reserve in the Klein Karoo, now offer a walking experience called the Explorer Camp. Explore the wilderness areas on a two-day walking safari and sleep in mobile tents within big five territory.
The Shamwari Explorer Camp will operate throughout the year while the Sanbona Explorer Camp will operate from October until April each year. Guests are accompanied by a qualified guide, spending two nights immersed in nature amongst the big five while camping in the bush. The mobile canvas tents sleep a maximum of two people each and are spaced out for privacy. Learn about the flora, fauna, and rock art sites at Sanbona, stargazing and fascinating history of the area.
All meals are included and consist of a delicious outdoor bush breakfast, lunch and dinner enjoyed around the camp fire. Special meals are catered for when required.
You need to be fit enough to walk at least four hours a day and age restrictions apply. Any medical and dietary requirements are to be communicated upon booking.
