A ‘baboon monitor’ from local nonprofit, Green Group Simon’s Town, guides the primates safely across a zebra crossing—a gesture that has since been celebrated as ‘evolution in action.’

The nonprofit aims to reduce conflict between residents and the Seaforth baboon troop through community-led monitoring, reports The Citizen.

Urban expansion into baboon habitats has forced the adaptable primates into suburbs, raiding bins and gardens. Monitors steer them from urban zones while ensuring their safety and encouraging a peaceful co-existence.

“To Jaco, thank you for being so committed to helping the baboons every single night. They are grateful as are the people who want their wellbeing,” writes Green Group Simon’s Town on Facebook.
