Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) released a statement confirming that there was a bomb scare at OR Tambo International Airport on Tuesday morning, 14 March.
They were notified of an alleged bomb on Singapore Airlines SQ478 yesterday morning and kept the plane grounded after landing at OR Tambo International.
Fire and Rescue, Emergency Services, and the South African Police Services (SAPS) were deployed on the plane’s arrival. After K9 dog units had thoroughly screened the aircraft, SAPS announced at 11:39 am that the plane was safe.
‘As ACSA, we will continue to act swiftly to prioritise the safety of all our passengers,’ the company said in their media statement.
The aircraft was cleared to depart OR Tambo International at 12:37 pm on Tuesday.
