For the eighth year, UK-based airport and airline rating consultancy Skytrax named Cape Town International Airport (CTIA) the best airport in Africa.
At the recent awards ceremony in Amsterdam, the airport also won the titles of ‘Cleanest Airport in Africa’ and ‘Best Airport Staff in Africa’. Alan Winde, the Premier of the Western Cape, said that the awards confirm Cape Town’s status as a top location for domestic and international visitors and highlight the outstanding standards and level of service the region offers.
‘The solid growth we are seeing in tourism is integral to our economic growth, recovery, and job creation. I want to congratulate the airport’s management and staff. You have made us very proud once again,’ he added.
South Africa’s King Shaka International Airport was also recognized in the awards, coming third in both the ‘Best Airport Staff in Africa’ and ‘Cleanest Airports in Africa’ categories and second place in the ‘Best Airports by Region’ category for Africa. Singapore’s Changi Airport was named the overall winner for World’s Best Airport for 2023.
