Thanks to LATAM Airlines and their announced expansion, South African travellers will now be able to reach the USA via Brazil.
The non-stop flight between Sao Paulo and Los Angeles is scheduled to begin on 1 July 2023. Also scheduled for the same date is the resumption of a commercial route between Sao Paulo and Johannesburg.
The Sao Paulo to Los Angeles flight will have a frequency of three times per week using a Boeing 777 aircraft which seats 410 passengers.
It will take off from Sao Paulo at 23:05 pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, arriving in Los Angeles at 07:00 am the next day.
Return flights will depart from Los Angeles at 13:00 pm on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, arriving in Sao Paulo at 05:20 am the next day.
Delta Air Lines and LATAM are also adding 23 000 weekly round trips to their regular locations to connect North and South America next year.
This is the first operational announcement by both airlines since the approval of LATAM’s joint venture agreement with Delta Air Lines last year September.
