South Africa’s culinary stars shine at 2025 Luxe Restaurant Awards

The 2025 Luxe Restaurant Awards, renowned for celebrating excellence in the South African dining scene, brought together the country’s top chefs, restaurateurs, and industry pioneers for a night of prestige and recognition.

Hosted by media personality Shashi Naidoo and celebrated cookbook author Mogau Seshoene (The Lazy Makoti), the glamorous evening honoured culinary artistry, innovation, and dedication.

Among the standout winners, Candice Philip was named Chef of the Year, while Luke Dale Roberts’ Salon claimed the highly coveted Restaurant of the Year award. Liam Tomlin was recognised with the Pioneer Award for his influential contributions to South Africa’s food landscape.

The night also saw Michelin-starred chefs take centre stage, with Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen earning a Luxe Three-Star Award for Klein JAN and Phil Carmichael’s Mill Street Bistro crowned Bistro of the Year.
