As the weather warms up you may want to begin planning your December holidays. The Stanford Street Festival takes place on 16 Decmeber in Stanford, not far from the poular summer beach-holiday destinations of Hermanus and Onrus.
This year the Stanford Street Festival is going green in an effort to reduce single-use plastic and waste. Vendors have been invited to stock locally made, sustainable products. This festival is expected to capture the thrill of summertime holidays, festive season fun, along with a carnival-style street market that offers a complete range of activities.

There will be street performers and buskers, children’s activities, street chalk art, a snail race, paper boat racing in the river furrows, a food court, a Stanford Wine Route Courtyard and a beer tent featuring local craft breweries and infused gin cocktails. In addition to summertime holiday fun, you can enjoy street entertainment in the form of music and over 150 stalls. There’ll be live music by Stanford Jazzfordians and lots of options for a bit of Christmas shopping.
This year, the Stanford Street Festival will include a new event Dream Wheels, on the heritage Market Square. Dream Wheels is a car show for the people and will include invited classic car clubs, local Landrover enthusiasts, farm tractors and even pimped rides with go-faster stripes. The adrenalin-filled Stanford Dip Street Race will also take place and includes skateboarders and longboarders and involves racing down Queen Victoria Street and through what locals call, The Stanford Dip.
Each car that enters the car show will pay R20, which will be donated to the local Overberg Wheelchair Association and the entrant will stand a chance to win a lucky draw prize. Other prizes up for grabs during the festival include a voucher for 2 people to spend 2 nights at the Stanford Valley Guest Farm, mixed hampers from the Stanford Wine Route and more.
Entrance to the festival is free. There will be free designated parking at Market Square.
