South Africa is a world renowned dolphin and whale watching destination, with people from all over the world flocking to our coasts to catch a glimpse. Dolphin sightings are not at all uncommon, but that doesn’t make any time you spot one any less special.
Common residents of the Cape Town coast, bottlenose dolphins are masters of the surf zone. They usually form pods of around 12 individuals, and are a pleasure to watch when they frolic in the waves. They prey on squid and fish, and can travel as fast as 28km/h.
