Widespread rain has been falling over the interior parts of South Africa since 21 October 2021, bringing relief to many farmers. Storm Report SA stated that good rainfall is still predicted until Friday 30 October.
According to Farmers Weekly, there are reports of 20mm to 79 mm over drought-stricken parts of the Karoo. These include Northern Cape Towns of Pofadder, Calvina, Victoria West, Loeriesfontein, Prieska and Beaufort West and Leeu Gamka.
A Daily Maverick article reported that farmers in the Karoo were crying and singing as rain fell over the area, which has been under the grip of a severe drought.
Below are scenes from Leeu Gamka as the rivers overflow and dams fill.

The South African Weather Service reported only 2mm of rain for Sutherland and Springbok, but the areas of Poffadder recorded up to 48mm and 37mm in Upington.
In the Klein Karoo, 41mm was recorded in Oudtshoorn and 57 mm in Ladismith. The rain was especially welcomed, where the Klein Karoo has been in the grip of a severe drought for several years. The rain was reported as some of the best the region has received in the past decade.
Beaufort West received 50mm of rain, and the region residents were overjoyed, to say the least, with the amount of rainfall. Watch the video below of a farmer and his foreman making the most out of the rain.
