The passengers who were on board the Titan submersible

In a world of speedy communication, innovative technology, continual GPS tracking upgrades, and the feeling that our cell phones are monitoring our every move, it’s difficult to comprehend that a whole submersible suddenly went missing. Most of the world has held its collective breath as news outlets release snippets of information.

Now that conclusive evidence has confirmed the worst, we pay our respects to those on board. The names of the passengers who died on board the Titan submersible have been released to the public.

Stockton Rush, 61

Founder and CEO of OceanGate ( the operating company responsible for the Titan), Stockton Rush was the youngest jet-transport-rated pilot in the world. He was only 19 when he obtained his DC-8 Type/Captain’s rating at the United Airlines Training Institute in 1981.

Paul-Henri Nargeolet, 77

Paul-Henri Nargeolet is the Director of Underwater Research at a company that owns the Titanic wreck rights. He was a 77-year-old French explorer and former deep diver and mine sweeper for the French Navy.

He led the first Titanic recovery expedition in 1987 and was a leading authority on the site of the Titanic wreck.

Hamish Harding, 58

Chairman of Action Aviation and a British billionaire, Hamish Harding was a mission specialist on the Titan. Prior to the mission, he posted on his social media: ‘Due to the worst winter in Newfoundland in 40 years, this mission is likely to be the first and only manned mission to the Titanic in 2023.

He was part of the fastest circumnavigation of Earth via an aircraft, known as the 2019 One More Orbit flight mission.

Shahzada Dawood, 48 and son Suleman Dawood, 19

Shahzada Dawood lived in the UK with his wife and two children and was the Vice Chairman of Engro Corporation, one of Pakistan’s biggest corporations. He was also an investor in vehicle manufacturing, fertilisers, and digital and energy technologies.

His son Suleman Dawood loved science-fiction literature and learning new things. He had recently graduated from Surrey’s ACS International School Cobham and was a student at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow.
