Restaurant inclusions were ranked based on several factors:
- Crust, Sauce & Cheese
- Value for money
- Consistency (google and critic reviews)
- Innovation
- Atmosphere
- Location and Accessibility
- Big 7 Travel writer suggestions and previous awards

Massimo placed 45th on the list, while Ferdinando’s came in at 31st.

It should come as no surprise, though, as neither of the restaurants is a stranger to accolades. Massimo was awarded ‘Best Pizzeria in Africa’ in 2021 and 2019
for their classic Italian Spitiri Famosi liqueur and Ferdinando’s won Porcupine Ridge Best pizzeria in South Africa 2022.
