A man in Brisbane, Australia got a very frightening welcome to Spring when he found two huge snakes had fallen through his kitchen ceiling.
On Monday, September 1, two coastal carpet pythons measuring 2.9 and 2.5 metres respectively were removed from the property. Australia is well-known for being home to scary animals, but coming home to two massive snakes is still quite a fright.
According to CNN, by the time the snake catcher arrived one snake had made its way to the front door while the other had gone off into the bedroom.
‘Wasn’t till I got there that I found they had come crashing through the customers ceiling in the kitchen’ said Steven Brown from Brisbane North Snake Catchers and Relocation in a Facebook post.
Brown explained that it was likely the two snakes were males who were fighting over a female as this time of year is mating season for snakes.
‘I was unable to check (the) roof cavity as there was no crawl space between (the) roof and ceiling,” said Brown, who said it is common to find the snakes in warm, dry roof cavities in the cooler winter months,’ Brown told CNN.
Despite being so large, the carpet pythons are non-venomous and not aggressive when left alone.
The snakes have been safely relocated in a state forest nearby.
