Two young lesser bush babies were taken to the Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital after they were attacked by a cat.
Though they were unscathed, two attempts to reunite them with their mother proved unsuccessful, after which they were brought to the hospital for care.
They are currently in a slow-release process with other bush babies.
Though lesser bush babies are listed as ‘Least Concern’ on the IUCN Red List, they face numerous threats. They are preyed upon by several animals, including African wildcats. Their habitats are also being impacted as a result of human encroachment.
