Two of South Africa’s luxury trains, namely Rovos Rail and The Blue Train, have made it onto the list of the world’s top train operators.
This is according to a recent study conducted by Japan Rail Pass. In compiling the list of the world’s best luxury train rides, a number of factors were taken into account.

The survey analyzed Tripadvisor reviews, global search volumes and Instagram hashtags. After an index score was created, the world’s best luxury train rides were ranked.
According to The South African, the two SA trains which made it to the Top 10 are known for offering an exceptional experience which combines excellent service, comfort and picturesque views.
The opulent Rovos Rail offers a nostalgic experience with modern comfort. It operates a number of routes, one of them being from Cape Town.

The luxurious Blue Train boasts a rich history and is renowned for its fine dining experiences and breathtaking landscapes. The rail service operates mainly between Pretoria and Cape Town.
