An international survey by South African Tourism’s Strategy Insights and Analytics revealed that as many as two thirds of travellers are ready to travel. The survey’s participants visited South Africa in the last three years and said they are willing to travel either immediately or within a year after international restrictions are lifted.
The study further found that 45% of international tourists said they would avoid travel, while another 45% would either travel as they did in the past or more frequently, according to Tourism Update. The other 10% were indecisive about their travel prospects.
African travellers said they are more inclined to travel domestically than internationally, and 44% of African travellers will consider travel as soon as it is safe to do so or when a vaccine has been found.
Recently, it was announced that South Africa was voted the top post-lockdown travel destination for participants from Europe.
