Uber will be introducing a fleet of electric vehicles in South Africa next year.
As reported by Travel News, the introduction of 200 BYD (Build Your Dreams) electric vehicles will start with a pilot programme in Johannesburg.
In July, the e-hailing service announced that 100 000 new BYD electric vehicles would be rolled out onto its platform in key markets worldwide.

BYD is a Chinese-owned electric vehicle manufacturing company with a growing presence in South Africa.
Earlier this year, Uber also introduced Uber Safari – a service in Cape Town offering customers the opportunity to book safari trips through the app.
The limited-time offering is available until January, granting Cape Town residents and visitors another means to experience wildlife by game viewing.
