UK increased quarantine costs will hit South African travellers hard

South Africans are currently on the ‘red list’ for entering the UK and will pay more in quarantine costs as of Thursday, August 12.

Anyone who has been to a country currently on the ‘red list’ will only be allowed into the UK if they are British or Irish National, or residence right in the UK.

Quarantining South Africans were paying ± R35,850 for 10 days, and 11 nights. The additional rate for an adult and child over the age of 11 was ±R13,300.

From Today, costs have increased to ±R46,800 and R29,300 for each additional adult and child over the age of 11.

‘If you have not arranged a quarantine package prior to your arrival in England, you face a penalty of up to £4,000 (R82,000) and will still have to pay for your quarantine package on arrival,’ the UK government said.
