The United Kingdom has moved towards recognising three additional vaccines under their list of approved vaccines for inbound travellers.
These three vaccines – Sinovac, Sinopharm, and Covaxin – are on the World Health Organization’s Emergency Use Listing, and will be on the approved list starting 22 November 2021.
In addition to Oxford/AstraZeneca, Pfizer BioNTech, Moderna, and Janssen, the British government also allows AstraZeneca Covishield, AstraZeneca Vaxzevria and Moderna Takeda. To be considered fully vaccinated, you must have received both doses, except in the event that it is a single-dose vaccine such as Janssen.
According to the official website, to be eligible to travel to the UK, you must be able to produce a vaccine certificate: ‘You must be able to prove that you’ve been fully vaccinated under a vaccination programme with approved proof of certification.’
However, if you are vaccinated by a vaccine that’s not approved, or from a country that is not on their approved list, you are subject to different rules, even if you are fully vaccinated: ‘If you have proof of vaccination from a country or territory that is not on this list, or with a vaccine that is not listed, you must follow the rules for people who do not qualify as fully vaccinated.’
