UK to allow entry for vaccinated foreigners

Posted on 9 July 2021 By David Henning

The UK government is expected to announce a plan allowing entry for double-vaccinated foreigners and British expatriates, News24 reports.

The government announced on Thursday that fully vaccinated UK residents will no longer have to quarantine upon their return to England. This announcement eases travel for some Britons to go visit their favourite holiday destinations such as in France, Greece and Spain.

The plan has received criticism from expatriates living abroad as it only applies to residents who received their jab through the UK’s national health service. The government has already received criticism for the decision to allow a large number of fans to attend the Europen Cup final at Wembley Stadium. This is on top of concerns since Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced plans to remove all of the current Covid-19 restrictions.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps commented that widening the scheme to include expatriates and other travellers from overseas is something that they are actively working on.
