The United States has announced it will open its borders to fully vaccinated international travellers from 33 countries including South Africa from November.
This only applies to air travel, however and land borders both from Canada and Mexico remain closed.
Other countries permitted to enter include most of the Schengen countries in Europe, the UK, China, India, Iran and Brazil. Children who aren’t eligible to be vaccinated in their home countries may enter.
The US has kept its borders closed to several countries including South Africa for over a year, and many welcome the lifting of restrictions to resume tourism, family visits and business opportunities.
