Namibia’s Etosha National Park is going to receive upgrades to its roads in a bid to benefit hundreds of daily travellers that drive through the park.
Tourism Update reports that FNB Tourism Division is backing the upgrades. The aim is to grade between 80-100 km of ground per night when there is no traffic.
Home to four of the Big 5, Etosha is famous for its elephant sightings. Elephants and lions are common in the park, while the elusive leopard hides in the densely vegetated areas. Etosha also boats a healthy population of black rhinos.
The National Park is named Etosha which means the ‘great white area’ because of the dried pan in the centre of it. The salt pan is the largest in Africa and a sight to behold and wen the rains come, so do the flamingos, as water gathers in the pan.
Rene Botes, FNB Head of Tourism and Merchant Sales, said to Tourism Update that, ‘We understand the prevailing trends in the tourism, hospitality and the travel sector, and through this small donation we want to help our clients and all Namibians, experience the very best our country has to offer.’
