South African National Parks (SANParks) has officially announced the start of the 2024 wildflower season in West Coast National Park.
In a written statement, SANParks stated that from the 1st of August until the 30th of September, the Postberg section of the park would be open to the public. This offers visitors the exceptional opportunity to admire and enjoy spectacular seasonal blooms.
In order to accommodate visitors, three food trucks have been stationed in the Geelbek precinct, Tsaarsbank and Preekstoel areas of the park. They will provide a variety of food and refreshments as the Geelbek Restaurant is currently undergoing maintenance.
The gate times for Postberg are from 09:00 to 17:00, with the last entry at 16:30.
Gate times for the general park area are from 07:00 to 18:00, with the last entry being at 17:30. The above-mentioned times are applicable for the month of August.
In September, the hours will be from 07:00 to 19:00, with the last entry at 18:30.
Conservation fees for August and September are as follows (child < 12 years old):
- SA adult (with ID) – R110 per person
- SA child – R55 per person
- SADC National adult (with passport) – R169 per person
- SADC National child – R85 per person
The standard conservation fee for international visitors is R247 per adult and R124 per child.
